turkey basters
- 5th of tequila
- 5-7 large lemons
- 5-7 limes
- 1/2-1 cup sugar (to taste)
- 1/2 gallon of water
- bag of ice
you’ll need a large thermos-style container with a screw off top. i have no idea how big mine is, but it’s gotta be about a 2-gallon capacity.
cut lemons and limes in half and squeeze juice into bottom of thermos. throw the halves in the container as well. (we have run out of basters and recycled the same fruit for a new batch!)
fill thermos to top with ice. pour entire fifth of tequila in. (don’t buy anything fancy for this. i usually go one step up from the bottom, and white tequila is usually best. unless you get jose cuervo gold, i really don’t recommend buying the cheap gold stuff, it tastes plain awful.)
add 1/2 cup sugar, and fill remainder with water. (mine will usually hold about a half gallon.)
screw top on and shake vigorously. (great exercise! lol)
taste and determine if more sugar is needed. seems like i always add a little more, up to a cup i believe.
shake vigorously before serving.
oh yeah, the reason for the name? these are drank from a turkey baster! works great for passing from canoe to canoe on a trip down the river. i think i literally have 8 turkey basters, but usually only use 2 at a time when serving, so one person can be drinking while you’re filling the next!
cheers!
